The 2025 Diabetes Summit will take place on 11 to 13 November at the Radisson Hotel and Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

Mamdani, raised in Uganda and South Africa before moving to the US, is the son of academic Mahmood Mamdani and filmmaker Mira Nair.

He is set to take office following the official certification of the election results.
