Entries are open for the Jozi My Jozi Walk the Talk 2026, which takes place on 26 July 2026 in the Johannesburg CBD.
Participants will walk 5km, 8km, or 15km routes starting and finishing at Ellis Park as part of efforts to explore and support the inner city.
Those taking part in the walk will have access to public transport through Gautrain and PRASA, and will be able to purchase optional vouchers to support homeless services in the city.
Registrations close on 22 July 2026, and all proceeds will go towards urban renewal and community programmes.

Elderly groups honour 19 seniors in Soweto

Elderly groups gathered at Phiri Hall last week to celebrate Kidi Mufube and 18 other senior citizens.
The event brought together members from several Soweto senior groups for performances, singing, and shared meals.
Organisers and community members presented tributes and recognised the contributions of older residents in the area.
The programme formed part of efforts by the King Alpha Queen Omega Development Organisation to honour and support elderly people in the community.

Climbers ascend to Table Mountain for charity

More than 140 climbers will climb Table Mountain on Saturday to raise funds for four South African charities.
Participants will climb the route repeatedly throughout the day, with donations linked to the number of ascents completed.
The beneficiaries include South African National Parks Honorary Rangers, Volunteer Wildfire Services, Wilderness Search and Rescue, and Ubuntu Football Academy.
Last year, 199 participants completed 600 climbs and raised nearly R1 million, and organisers aim to exceed that total this year.
