Pelican Light Foundation delivers care packages to learners

Pelican Light Foundation has partnered with Diepkloof Police Station to deliver 125 care packages to girls at Roodepoort Primary School.
Last Friday, the team distributed the packages to learners to support their wellbeing and daily needs.
Community members and partners assisted with collecting and delivering the donations to the school.
The initiative formed part of ongoing efforts to support under-resourced learners in the area.

Regenesys launches programme to train doctor entrepreneurs

Regenesys School of Entrepreneurship has launched a pilot programme in South Africa to train doctors as healthcare entrepreneurs.
The 6-month programme, run with the Sector Education and Training Authority, starts with two cohorts and includes training in business design, billing systems, regulation and healthcare practice management.
Participants receive mentorship, access to funding and placement in existing medical practices, with grants of R100,000 for selected practitioners and loans of up to R1 million from RH Fund Managers.
The initiative targets unemployed doctors and those entering private practice, with plans to train up to 1,000 participants over the next few years.

Finn the dog raises donations for animals on birthday

Finn, a dog in Gqeberha, uses his birthday to collect donations for animals in need.
From 1 May to 24 June 2026, on his birthday, Finn and owner Lesa-Mare Harris are gathering food, blankets, and supplies for shelters across Nelson Mandela Bay and Kouga.
Donations are distributed to animal welfare groups, including the Uitenhage SPCA, supporting stray and homeless animals.
Last year’s drive collected more than 300kg of pet food and supplies, and the goal this year is to increase donations.
