Elephant Ambulance Gives Injured Elephant a Second Chance in India
Teaser / Tailpiece story
Wildlife SOS, an Indian animal conservation and welfare organisation, has introduced a specially designed “Elephant Ambulance” to safely transport injured elephants over long distances.
The vehicle was recently used to rescue a 27-year-old elephant named Veer in rural Uttar Pradesh, India, who had an injured leg.
Veterinary staff treated him on site before he began a multi-day journey to the Elephant Conservation and Care Center in Mathura.
The ambulance allows staff to monitor elephants while minimizing stress, and Veer now receives round-the-clock care, nutritious food, and specialized treatments including acupuncture.
