Malcolm Marx has won the Men’s Player of the Year, while Nadine Roos took the Women’s Player of the Year for the second year in a row, at the 2025 SA Rugby Awards in Cape Town last night.
Coach Rassie Erasmus and the Springboks were named Coach and Team of the Year after defending the Rugby Championship and winning 11 of 13 Tests.
SA Rugby President Mark Alexander said the awards recognized the dedication and achievements of players, coaches and teams throughout the season:

18th Joburg Open got underway yesterday at the Houghton Golf Club

Rising talent and local stars took centre stage on the first day of the 18th Joburg Open yesterday, with 10-year-old Tshiamo Makamedi hitting the opening tee shot for the first time ever by a child.
Before the main tournament, professional and amateur golfers played together in a Pro-Am event, giving amateurs a chance to join the pros on the course.
South African players like Casey Jarvis, MJ Viljoen and Oliver Bekker are competing in the tournament.
Mayor Dada Morero says hosting the event positions Johannesburg as a leading sports hub and highlights ongoing infrastructure development in the city:

Tech boost for Diepkoof school

Learners at Bopasentatla Secondary School in Diepkloof will now use robotics, 3D printing and virtual reality equipment in a new technology lab donated by Regent Business School.
The iLeadLAB will support subjects such as computer studies and robotics and give learners hands-on experience with modern tools.
Teachers will also receive training to ensure the technology is fully integrated into daily lessons.
School principal Takalani Radzuma says the lab will help prepare learners for a future shaped by digital skills.
