Protea Glen Community Embraces Recycling in Push Against Illegal Dumping

The Imvelo Project, together with local partners, held a successful cleaning awareness campaign in Protea Glen Extension 4 on May 4.

The campaign took place at an illegal dumping site to highlight the impact of waste on the environment and residents’ health.
Ward 14 councillor Makapane Mokwena urged the community to take responsibility for keeping their environment clean.
Recycling advocate Nokuthula Tshabalala emphasised that recycling can reduce waste, conserve resources, and create jobs.

Stud Game Breeders® Awards R900 000 in Bursaries to TUT Wildlife Students

The Tshwane University of Technology recently hosted a bursary ceremony where Stud Game Breeders® awarded R900 000 to 52 students in the Department of Nature Conservation.
This funding supports students across various qualifications, including diplomas, advanced diplomas, postgraduate diplomas, masters, and PhDs — the first time beyond diploma level funding has been included.
Since 2011, the Stud Game Breeders® Transformation Fund has invested over R9.5 million in 317 bursaries to TUT students, promoting transformation and growth in South Africa’s wildlife industry.
The bursaries assist with tuition and accommodation, easing financial burdens for students pursuing careers in wildlife management and conservation.
