Young SA Men Join the Fight to End Period Stigma
Story 2
In a hopeful shift, young South African men are speaking up and stepping in to help end the stigma around menstruation.
A new Kotex survey reveals that nearly 90% of them want better education on the topic, and over 75% believe they should actively support women during their cycles.
Kotex’s Kutlwano Tshetlhane says breaking the silence is key, and including men is a powerful step toward empathy and equality.
The findings show that open, inclusive conversations can reshape old attitudes and create a generation that treats periods with dignity and understanding.
It’s a sign that period talk is no longer just a “women’s issue.” It’s becoming a shared conversation.

Capetonian Duo Rides for a Cause in Gruelling Mountain Bike Race
Story 3
Two Capetonian heroes are preparing to take on one of the Western Cape’s toughest mountain bike races to support young patients and staff at St Joseph’s Intermediate Paediatric Care.
Regan Bagley and Jermaine Carelse—both with backgrounds in law enforcement and firefighting—will participate in the challenging Wines2Whales race later this year.
Their goal is to raise funds and awareness for the Montana-based children’s hospital, which marks its 90th anniversary in 2025.
The pair says the true heroes are the hospital staff, who care for children with life-limiting conditions. They hope their efforts will inspire South Africans to stand together in support of vulnerable children.
