Gauteng Rolls Out Smart Plates to Fight Vehicle Crime

The Gauteng Provincial Government unveiled the new “smart” number plates during a pilot launch event at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Soweto yesterday.
The plates will be tested over a six month period government-owned vehicles, that are operated by G-Fleet Management, prior to a province wide roll-out.
The plates feature forensic QR codes and a digitised back-end portal to improve traceability and reduce fraud, while preventing plate swoping and cloning.
The technology aims to curb vehicle theft, while supporting traffic law enforcement.

Mashatile Leads National Clean-Up Drive in Kliptown

Deputy President Paul Mashatile has launched the #CleanCitiesCampaign at Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, calling on South Africans to work together to keep their communities clean.
Speaking at the event, Mashatile said creating safer, greener, and cleaner public spaces is everyone’s responsibility — not just the government’s.
He was joined by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero.
Together, they planted trees, cleaned parts of the area, and lit a symbolic Flame to mark the start of the campaign.
The project aims to bring life back to neglected townships and villages, while also tackling social and environmental problems.

Dior Names Jonathan Anderson as Creative Director for All Lines

French fashion house Dior has appointed Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson as creative director for both its women’s and men’s collections.
Anderson is the first to hold both roles.
This comes after the departure of Maria Grazia , who led Dior’s women’s line for nine years.
Anderson, is known for his bold style and success at Spanish brand Loewe, where he turned the label into a modern fashion favourite.
The Irish designer has been hailed for his unique talent and fresh creative vision.
His first Dior collection will debut at Paris Fashion Week on 27 June.
