Afrika Tikkun Wings of Life hosted a Career Expo for Grade 11 and 12 learners at its Diepsloot centre on 3 July.
Professionals from industries including entrepreneurship, the arts, sport and community development introduced learners to different career opportunities after matric.
The event encouraged young people to explore pathways beyond university while connecting them with mentors and industry professionals.
The expo aimed to help learners make informed career choices and prepare for the world of work.

New Opportunities for Young Farmers

Seventeen aspiring young farmers, including 10 young Black women, have joined a new training programme in Meyerton, Gauteng, to build careers in agriculture.
They will receive a year of hands-on training in regenerative farming, food production and agribusiness through the Living Soils Community Learning Farm.
The programme also donates part of its harvest to surrounding communities, helping improve local food security.
The initiative is supported by Woolworths in partnership with HarvestFresh.

Elihle Stali was selected for developing AI-powered smart glasses that help blind and visually impaired people navigate more independently, inspired by his blind grandmother.
A crowdfunding campaign has helped him raise support to attend the international programme.
