CrossFit Rising Oak in Broadacres, Johannesburg, has raised more than R40 000 for the charity Rainbows and Smiles through its annual CRO 6 Hour Enduro Charity Event.
The fitness challenge brought together athletes, families, sponsors and supporters, who spent six hours competing in teams while raising money for children and families affected by childhood cancer.
Organisers say the event has grown beyond a sporting challenge into a community fundraising initiative, with the money helping Rainbows and Smiles provide practical and emotional support to families facing cancer.

A literacy initiative launched by the Saheti School Pre Play School PTA in Bedfordview is set to expand across South Africa in 2027 after a successful pilot programme this year.
The Khula Book Collective collected 1 859 new and gently used children's books, which have been donated to Carter Primary School and Emfundisweni Primary School in Alexandra. Working with Breadline Africa, the books have been added to school libraries to help improve access to reading material and encourage a stronger culture of literacy.
Organisers say the initiative will now invite more schools and parent associations across the country to take part
