Campaign Puts Focus on Men's Mental Health

Johannesburg based education specialist and child mental health advocate Norleen Zulu has wrapped up her Men Who Show Up campaign, encouraging more support for men's mental health during Men's Mental Health Month.
The initiative brought together psychologists, businesses and community partners for wellness sessions, workplace discussions and conversations with fathers to encourage men to seek support and speak openly about their mental wellbeing.
Zulu says emotionally healthy fathers, teachers, coaches and caregivers are better equipped to support the children who rely on them.

Home Affairs Extends Office Hours for Smart ID Services

The Department of Home Affairs has extended operating hours at its offices until 21 July to give people more time to apply for and collect Smart ID cards.
From 1 to 21 July, offices will remain open until 6pm instead of the usual 4pm, with the extended hours aimed at assisting learners and other members of the public.
The department says the move forms part of broader efforts to improve access to services, alongside the expansion of Smart ID services to 203 participating bank branches and upgrades to its online booking system.

New Vehicle Plant to Create Thousands of Jobs in Gauteng

Chinese carmaker Chery has officially taken over Nissan's former vehicle manufacturing plant in Rosslyn, north of Pretoria, marking its move into vehicle production in South Africa.
The company plans to begin production in mid 2027, retain all 692 existing workers and create nearly 3 000 direct and indirect jobs.
The investment is expected to boost local manufacturing, increase the use of locally made vehicle components and support more jobs across the automotive supply chain.
