Farmers hail R2billion investment

Farmers have welcomed the R2 billion investment in a new malt production facility in South Africa, which is expected to generate over 300 permanent and contract jobs.
The plant, aimed at strengthening the country’s brewing and farming sectors, was officially launched in Sedibeng in the Vaal.
The facility will provide work opportunities and supporting local agricultural and industrial communities.
Gauteng Primeir Panyaza Lesufi is optimistic about this project, that is expected to be operational by 2027:

Cape Town Swops Recyclables for Groceries

The City of Cape Town is helping families turn recyclables into essentials through its mobile Swop Shop, where residents exchange items like groceries, toiletries, and school supplies.
Since August 2025, 52 tonnes of waste have been diverted from landfill, while families received R161,000 worth of goods.
Operating in Delft, Wesbank, Khayelitsha, Mfuleni, Lwandle, and Nomzamo, the programme is funded by the City, supported by recyclables sales, and supplemented by private donations to reach more households.
