The City of Cape Town's arts programmes are empowering young creatives this year by giving them access to skills, support and income opportunities.
The City’s Emerging Artists Programme has selected 25 young visual artists for mentorship, training and public exhibitions, where some sold their work.
The Arts Aweh! programme offered free after-school arts classes to children and youth aged five to 17 in communities including Mfuleni, Hanover Park and Athlone.
Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Francine Higham says together, the programmes helped young people turn creative talent into real opportunities.
