Three JRA employees complete advanced urban construction training in China

Three employees from the Johannesburg Roads Agency have returned from an intensive six-month training programme at Hangzhou College, School of Urban Construction in China.

The program which was was a collaborative effort between the City of Johannesburg and the South African Government, focused on urban construction.

The initiative aims to equip infrastructure professionals with advanced knowledge in water and sanitation, roads and transport as well as renewable energy and electricity.

KZN Department of Transport honoured with prestigious National Innovation Award

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport secured the Gold award for the Best Implemented Project of the Year at the prestigious National Batho Pele and Innovation Awards and Public Sector Innovation Awards ceremony held at Emperor's Palace in Gauteng.

The event celebrated the vital role of innovation in enhancing public service delivery to citizens.
The MEC for Transport, Siboniso Duma, spoke of the the department's commitment to transforming KZN into a hub of infrastructure development.

Duma commended the hard work and dedication of Control Engineering Technician, Simphiwe Nene, and other committed staff members within the Transport Infrastructure and District Services team.

Free State government celebrates grassroots sports

The Free State provincial government hosted the Diski99 Championship in Thabong in Bloemfontein showcasing grassroots sporting excellence.

The Championship is the result of a collaboration between the Free State Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and South African internet service provider Net Nine Nine, aimed at reinforcing a shared commitment to expanding grassroots football, driving youth development and building sustainable sporting pathways across the province.

Expanded Emirates–SAA partnership to boost regional and global connectivity

Emirates and South African Airways are enhancing their nearly three-decade-long partnership through a reciprocal codeshare agreement, ahead of the 2026 peak travel season.

The move aims to provide travellers with seamless access across South Africa, regional African destinations and the Emirates’ global network.

Emirates will operate a third daily flight between Dubai and Cape Town, adding over 600 seats per day, from the 1st of July.

The Group CEO of SAA Professor John Lamola, says the agreement will unlock greater travel and trade opportunities across Africa and globally, ensuring that passengers benefit from world-class service and convenience.
