Nearly 700 blankets were collected during the annual WarmFees charity event held in Ruimsig last month.
The event attracted about 650 community members who donated blankets, food and other essentials.
The donations will support local non-profit organisations, children’s homes, shelters and animal welfare groups.
Sponsors also contributed auction items, with proceeds supporting the event’s beneficiaries.

Kids Haven in Benoni has received an R800 000 investment from the National Transmission Company South Africa, an Eskom subsidiary, to expand support for vulnerable children and young people.
The funding will provide educational equipment, water infrastructure, residential care resources and vocational training facilities.
A new academy will train about 40 young people each year in practical and entrepreneurial skills.
The investment will also strengthen Kids Haven’s community programmes across Ekurhuleni.

Mustadafin Foundation is marking Women’s Month by highlighting the women who run its community programmes, with women making up 96% of its workforce.
The organisation provides food, education, healthcare, disaster relief and support services to communities across South Africa.
Its female staff members lead programmes that assist children, families, young mothers and vulnerable groups.
The foundation is celebrating its 40-year history by recognising the women who help deliver these services.
