Three animal advocates are paddling along the Vaal River from Bothaville to Bloemhof to raise awareness about animal cruelty and support rescue organisations.
Leon Bester, Jan Jacobs and Jack Jacobs started the canoe journey on Saturday, using converted feeding troughs as their vessels.
The trio paddles each day and camps along the riverbank while collecting support for animal welfare groups.

Durban Run Adds Two Thousand Entries

Durban's Boxer Super Run has increased its capacity from 5,000 to 7,000 participants after strong demand for the 5km event.
The race will take place on 18 October, with entries opening on 6 August and closing on 12 October or when all places are filled.
The event aims to encourage healthy, active lifestyles by making road running affordable and accessible.
Organisers have kept the R100 entry fee unchanged to make the event accessible to more participants.

Department Launches Rural Innovation Projects

The launch follows an oversight visit by Minister Blade Nzimande as part of the District Development Model.

Ndlovu Choir Begins Edinburgh Festival Debut

The Ndlovu Youth Choir begins its Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut in Scotland today, 6-August, ahead of the festival’s official opening on 7-August.
The choir will perform its production A Celebration of Africa until 30-August, showcasing South African music and culture through gospel, amapiano and songs by local artists.
The group travelled to Scotland after completing performances in Johannesburg and has spent months preparing for the international arts festival.
