Homegrown tech brings new hope for people with disabilities
Story 2
South African-made assistive technologies are opening new doors for persons with disabilities.
This week, four innovative tools were launched at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein, designed to improve daily life and access to services.
Among them is a hands-free smartphone device for the visually impaired and a real-time sign language interpreting service at public facilities.
Most of the developers are young people with disabilities, showing how inclusive innovation can drive real change.
Government says plans are in place to take these solutions nationwide and build a more accessible, equal society for all.
