SA sprint stars gear up for NWU McArthur Stadium challenger

The Hezekiel Sepeng Invitational Continental Tour Challenger will be hosted at the NWU McArthur Stadium on the 7th of April.
The event, hosted in honour of Olympic silver medallist Hezekiel Sepeng, will witness top local and international athletes for two evenings of high-level competition on the track and field.
Headliners include South Africa’s premier sprinter, Akani Simbine, who will line up in the men’s 100m.
The women’s 100m will see the likes of Tamzin Thomas, Hannah Vermaak.
Olympic silver medallist Jo-Ane du Plessis will lead a strong women’s javelin lineup.
South African 400m hurdles champion Sabelo Dhlamini, 100m hurdles record holder Marione Fourie, the experienced Antonio Alkana will feature in the 110m hurdles.
The programme will begin with a kid’s athletics coaching clinic on the 6th of April, followed by the main invitational.

South African Extreme open-water athlete Ryan Stramrood has become the third person to complete the 47km ultra-marathon around the volcanic St Helena island in the South Atlantic Ocean.
The athlete who is known for his feats of endurance as a record-setting long distance and ice swimmer, has set a new record of 16 hours, 50 minutes and 42 seconds.
The ultra-marathon swim is regarded as one of the toughest open-water challenges in the world.
