Tshwane calls on residents to support The Bigg Pull 2026 charity challenge

The City of Tshwane is calling on residents to support the The Bigg Pull 2026 community charity drive.
The challenge that is organised by Gentle Giant Promotions, will see 20 strength athletes, known as the Power Team, attempt to pull a truck over one-thousand-650-kilometres from Pretoria to Cape Town, over a period of 41 days.
The team will depart from the South African Air Force Base in Centurion on the 2nd of November
and is expected to arrive in Cape Town on the 12th of December.
Tshwane mayor Nasiphi Moya’s spokesperson, Samkelo Mgobozi, says the initiative aims to raise much-needed funds for various charity organisations.

600 km MegaWalk to raise funds and awareness for children with disabilities

Two friends will be taking on a gruelling 600-kilometre journey on foot from Johannesburg to Durban in support of children living with disabilities.
Vusumuzi Mbambani and Molelekwa Mahoko will undertake the MegaWalk from the 1st of September to the 1st of October, using the challenge to raise funds and awareness for children with disabilities.
The journey also aims to inspire people living with disabilities and highlight the importance of creating greater opportunities and inclusion within communities.

More than R120 million in lottery winnings remain unclaimed

The National Lottery operator Sizekhaya is urging Lotto players to double-check their tickets as tens of millions of rands in winnings remain unclaimed.
More than R120 million in Lotto and PowerBall prizes are currently unclaimed. The operator says
many of these tickets were bought through banking apps.
Sizekhaya COO Fundi Sithebe, says to date, the winner of the biggest prize, a R93.5 million PowerBall jackpot from a ticket bought in Molapo, in Soweto, has yet to come forward to claim the money.
The lottery operator has issued a 365-day deadline to claim the prize and says any unclaimed funds will be transferred to the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund for good causes.
