The University of South Africa has marked a significant cultural milestone with the launch of its inaugural African Music Festival at its main Pretoria campus.
The event was a vibrant tribute to Africa's diverse and rich musical legacy, featuring an eclectic mix of indigenous music styles and traditional instruments from across the continent.
Championed by Unisa's Principal and Vice Chancellor, Professor Puleng LenkaBula, the festival has set a new precedent. Professor LenkaBula notes that the event has established Unisa as a pioneer in incorporating African music into higher education frameworks.
