UJ emerged victorious at G20 Tourism Hackathon

The University of Johannesburg has emerged victorious at the inaugural G20 Tourism Hackathon, with two of its student teams claiming the top two positions.
The Catalysts team secured first place and a prize of R175,000 for developing the Hologram Hub – an innovative platform preserving and showcasing rural communities' cultural heritage to enhance tourism.
UJ's Map My Biz team took second place, winning R140,000 for creating a solution that merges offline learning with AI tools, supporting local entrepreneurs and boosting their tourist visibility.
Both winning teams will present their solutions to global tourism ministers at the November G20 Summit.
