Bryanston Boys Use Robotics To Protect Johannesburg’s Biodiversity
Story 3
A group of Grade 5 and 6 learners from Bryanston Parallel Medium School have developed a website to help residents identify invasive plants and replace them with indigenous species.
The 11 and 12-year-olds created the project for the FIRST LEGO League competition after finding that many residents in Fourways and Bryanston wanted to remove invasive plants but did not know how.
Their website features six invasive species commonly found in Johannesburg, with advice on identifying and safely removing them.
The project has also attracted the attention of the Hans Crescent Sanctuary in Bryanston, which is working to restore the area's Egoli granite grasslands.
