Grand Egyptian Museum Unveils Complete King Tutankhamun Collection for First Time
Story 3
Thousands of visitors streamed through the Grand Egyptian Museum as King Tutankhamun’s entire collection of over 4,500 artefacts was displayed together for the first time.
The treasures, curated over nearly two decades, include the young pharaoh’s iconic golden mask, personal belongings, gilded tools, and funerary statues.
Visitors can also see the Khufu Sun Boat, the oldest and largest wooden artefact in human history, while a second solar boat is being restored on site.
The $1-billion museum, overlooking the Giza Plateau, offers modern galleries with natural light and spacious displays, contrasting with the older, cramped museum in central Cairo.
Egypt hopes the museum will revive tourism and boost the economy, with expectations of five million visitors a year.
