Ben Rodrigues wins award at International Portuguese Music Awards

South African musician Ben Rodrigues won the New Talent award at the International Portuguese Music Awards in Providence, Rhode Island, becoming the first South African to receive the honour.
The International Portuguese Music Awards recognise musicians of Portuguese descent from around the world and also featured Rodrigues performing at the ceremony.
South African singer-songwriter Katia De Vallier received a nomination in the Rap/Hip-Hop/Dance category for her song Do The Things, and was recognised among the finalists.
The event included international entries across multiple music categories.

Cape Town honours firefighters on International Firefighters Day

On International Firefighters Day yesterday, the City of Cape Town recognised and thanked its Fire and Rescue Service for its ongoing commitment and service to the public.
Over the past year, firefighters responded to 30,302 incidents, showing their continued readiness to protect communities across the metro.
