Big Walk Boosts Benoni Clean-Up Efforts
Story 1
The second annual Big Walk, hosted by World of Wellness (WoW) at Bunny Park on March 1, brought families, friends and running groups together to raise funds for the local NPO Clean Projects.
Participants looped through the park, showing support for the group that transforms public spaces and encourages community involvement.
WoW owner Sandor Dowling said the event recognises Clean Projects’ impact while raising money to continue their work and create jobs.
Director Alison Etherington added that community support has helped the initiative grow from a small street clean-up to a city-wide effort.

Animal Sanctuary Finds Permanent Home in the Karoo
Story 2
The Karoo Donkey Sanctuary has secured a permanent home near De Rust in Little Karoo.
The sanctuary faced eviction from a previous property near Prince Albert after struggling to purchase the land it was using.
With support from donors and investors, the organisation has now bought a 500 hectare farm where more than 300 rescued animals, including nearly 100 donkeys and dozens of horses, can live safely.
The property, called Die Hoop, provides grazing land, shelter and long term security for animals that were rescued from abuse and neglect.
Founder Jonno Sherwin says this is a huge relief
