Hundreds of inner-city learners will gain access to coding, robotics and digital skills training through a new Digital Learning Centre opened in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.
The facility serves Grade 7 to 9 learners and is also available to neighbouring schools during school hours.
The centre includes two dedicated learning spaces focused on digital literacy, problem-solving and robotics activities.
The initiative aims to expand access to technology education and equip young people with skills for future study and employment.

More than 50 senior citizens in Phiri, Soweto, have completed a skills development programme designed to help them earn an income and stay active in their communities.
The three-month initiative, run by Community Rise Uthando Help Center in partnership with the City of Johannesburg, trained participants in sewing and detergent-making.
Organisers say the programme equips older residents with practical skills while creating opportunities for social interaction and economic participation.

Western Cape Education MEC David Maynier congratulated Zayaan Abdurahman, a Grade 11 learner at Mondale High School who has been selected as one of eight South African learners to visit the Kennedy Space Center in July.
She earned her place through the South African Space Design Competition for designing futuristic space settlements.
