Thailand Elephant Visits Grocery Store
Story 3
A wild elephant has caused a stir in northeastern Thailand after wandering into a grocery store near Khao Yai National Park. The elephant, identified as Plai Biang Lek, was caught on video approaching the shop before entering and helping himself to food on the shelves. Footage shows the elephant calmly taking snacks from the counter, unfazed by national park staff attempting to move him along. He later backed out of the store with a bag of snacks still in his trunk. According to shop owner Kamploy Kakaew, the elephant ate nine bags of sweet rice crackers, a sandwich, and some dried bananas. She said minimal damage was left behind — just muddy footprints and a dented ceiling.
