Bryanston Primary School honoured 13-year-old Akhile Ncube at its 2025 Sports and Culture Awards after he claimed top honours including Victor Ludorum, Athletics Player of the Year, Swimmer of the Year, and half colours for athletics.Akhile discovered his passion for swimming at a young age and says he knew by eight that the sport was where he belonged. A serious medical setback at age 10 tested his resilience, but he credits the experience with teaching him to persevere.His achievements reflect not only exceptional talent, but determination beyond his years.

Bryanston Parkrun celebrated the New Year with over 400 runners and walkers at Riverside Park. Supported by 12 volunteers, the event had a festive vibe, with families joining in for a healthy start to 2026. Volunteer Avi Naidoo noted the significance of the turnout, highlighting how it shows more Bryanston residents feel safe participating in park runs. Naidoo adds that participation means more people will make parkrun part of their weekly routine. At the end of January, Bryanston Parkrun will celebrate its 11th anniversary, a milestone that underscores its longevity and role in fostering community well-being.

Rand Water has confirmed a three-phase maintenance schedule, with the final two phases set for January 2026. The third phase begins tommorow and will involve valve and meter replacements on the F18 pipeline. This will affect parts of Mogale City, Rand West, and areas of Johannesburg, including Kagiso, Roodepoort, and Meadowlands. The work will run until the 8th January and the final phase is scheduled for 16th to 17th January.
