Fuel prices set to decrease

South Africans can look forward to lower fuel prices from Wednesday, following the global drop in crude and a stronger rand.
Month-end data from the Central Energy Fund is pointing to petrol price decreases of between 62 cents per litre for 93 Unleaded and 66 cents for 95 Unleaded.
Diesel prices are expected to drop by R1.36 for 500ppm and R1.49 for 50ppm.
The department’s spokesperson, Robert Maake, says these cuts will bring the coastal prices of 95 Unleaded and 50ppm diesel to their lowest levels since February 2022:

Albion Wheelers Cycling Club raises R25 000

The R25 000 raised by the Albion Wheelers Cycling Club will support Bambanani Southdale Community Service’s year-round projects, including soup kitchens, food packs, outings for children in care, and assistance to retirement villages and local organisations.
The cyclists raised the funds by completing a four-day, 700 km ride from Brackendowns to Durban, overcoming more than 6 200 metres of elevation.
Thirty-two cyclists, supported by two drivers, participated in the tour.
Tour Director Michael Hayes says the tour showcased the club’s dedication to giving back.

SA shifs focus to World Cup

South Africa will now shift its focus to the World Cup after its AFCON exit following a 2–1 loss to Cameroon in the round of 16 in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday.
The team qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 2010 after topping its qualifying group ahead of Nigeria.
South Africa will open the tournament against co-hosts Mexico on June 11, before facing South Korea and a European play-off winner in the group stage.
The team will play friendly matches in March as part of preparations for the finals in North America.
