James Webb Telescope spots one of the earliest galaxies ever
Teaser / Tailpiece story
NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has confirmed a galaxy called MoM z14, which existed just 280 million years after the Big Bang. This makes it one of the earliest galaxies ever observed.
The galaxy is unusually bright and contains more nitrogen than expected, offering new clues about the early universe. It may also have helped clear the thick hydrogen fog that filled space at the time, a key step in cosmic history known as reionization.
Astronomers say Webb is revealing the first galaxies in unprecedented detail, and future telescopes, including the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, will help uncover even more.
of these ancient galaxies.
