German Farmers Share Record Potato Harvest with Community
Teaser / Tailpiece story
German farmers have harvested a record crop of potatoes this year, so abundant that much of it is being given away to those in need.
The surplus is being distributed through the group 4000 Tonnen, reaching food banks, schools, churches, homeless shelters, and even zoos, with some shipments even sent to Ukraine.
People are collecting the potatoes in bags, boxes, and wheelbarrows, while chefs are turning the harvest into soups, gratins, and broths.
The initiative ensures that none of the food goes to waste.
