Uber Eats and the Gauteng Department of Economic Development hosted an event in Orlando, Soweto on February 3 to celebrate a partnership supporting township businesses.
The initiative has invested over R250 million in merchant onboarding, marketing tools, delivery bikes, and training to help local entrepreneurs expand their markets, increase demand, and create jobs. Entrepreneurs like Rhulani Shibambo of Kota King were recognised for their success and growth through the programme.

The United States chapter of the South African Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the reauthorization of the African Growth and Opportunity Act until the end of the year, with South Africa remaining a beneficiary.
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer confirmed the extension applies retroactively to September last year, when the programme expired.
The act allows qualifying African countries to export thousands of goods to the US duty-free, supporting local industries including agriculture, manufacturing and automotive exports.

Middle-distance runner Tshepo Tshite has started his 2026 season in spectacular fashion.
