Women in tech shine at FoundHER Africa Challenge

The Tech FoundHER Africa Challenge was recently held at JSE in Sandton, where ten women founders of businesses from across the continent competed.
Five of them received equity-free grants worth more than 1-million-7-thousand-rand.
The challenge attracted 1,163 submissions from tech founders across Africa, highlighting the depth of talent that often goes overlooked, especially among women working in the digital economy.
It aims to address a R720b funding gap that continues to limit economic growth and job creation.
South Africa CEO and executive director of Naspers and Prosus, Phuthi Mahanyele-Dabengwa is proud of the winners, saying they represent the next generation of tech leaders.

Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Nomalungelo Gina praised the scientists' contributions through research, planning, and sustainability initiatives at the 6th National Global Change Conference at the University of Mpumalanga.
The conference brought together scientists, policymakers, and young researchers to discuss challenges like climate change, pollution, urbanisation, and biodiversity loss.
University of Mpumalanga Deputy Vice-Chancellor Aldo Stroebel said the event strengthens South Africa's capacity to respond to environmental shifts and fosters collaboration in research.
