Zero2Five Trust programme supports vulnerable KZN children
Story 2
The Zero2Five Trust, a non-profit organisation, is running holiday programmes for young children in KwaZulu-Natal who rely on school meals and are at risk of hunger during the summer break.
Children are recruited from local communities, particularly those whose parents work and cannot supervise them.
The programme provides breakfast, lunch, snacks, educational activities, and supervised play. Each child also takes home a 5‑litre food bucket to help their families.
The 2025/26 programme introduces storytelling courses for caretakers and fresh produce distribution in uThukela, uMgungundlovu, and uMlazi. In 2024, over 530 children participated, and nearly 4 000 families received support, helping address both nutrition and safety concerns during the holidays.
