Gauteng schools open late applications for grades 1 and 8 for 2026

Late school applications for grades 1 and 8 in Gauteng for the 2026 academic year will open on 17 December and run until the end of January 2026.
This was revealed by Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane while providing an update on learner placement progress for next year.

Honeydew spreads festive cheer with toy drive

The Honeydew Community Policing Forum and SAPS distributed toys and gifts to local centres, spreading festive cheer.
The annual toy run visited four centres: Golden Harvest Retirement Village, Ann Harding Cheshire Home, Baby Moses Sanctuary, and St Laurence's Children's Haven.
Santa and volunteers delivered gifts and greetings, joined by Help24 emergency medical services.
Speaking about the importance of the day, Honeydew CPF public relations officer Michael Steyn says the annual event is an opportunity to give back and strengthen connections within the community.
