GoFundMe for South African teenager surpasses R2 million

A GoFundMe campaign for 14 year old Wernand has raised more than R2 million after South African content creator BI Phakathi shared the teenager's story with millions of viewers around the world.
The campaign has attracted support from more than 4 000 donors and aims to help provide the family with housing, education, food and other essential resources after Wernand was seen collecting scrap metal to help support his household.
The fundraiser was started by American Logan Mayberry after meeting Wernand and learning about his family's circumstances.

Wits liver transplant programme reaches 1,000 life saving procedures

The Wits University Liver Transplant Programme has completed its 1,000th liver transplant, giving hundreds of adults and children a second chance at life.
The programme, a partnership between Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre and Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, has grown into one of Africa's leading transplant centres since performing its first transplant in 2004.
The programme has also advanced liver transplant care through several pioneering medical procedures

British artist Stephen Wiltshire has once again amazed the world after recreating the skyline of the American city of Milwaukee from memory following a single helicopter flight.
Diagnosed with autism as a child, Wiltshire is renowned for drawing entire cityscapes in extraordinary detail without using photographs or reference material.
His latest artwork, measuring about three metres wide, was completed in just a few hours using only his remarkable memory.
His sister, Annette Wiltshire, says drawing became his language and later his passport to the world.
