Redhill learners secure robotics finals spot

Redhill School robotics teams won gold, silver and bronze at the World Robotics Olympiad Gauteng regional competition, securing a place at the national finals.
Ten teams competed against 17 schools, with the gold-winning team creating an AI-powered robot that plays marimba music based on recognised images.
The project uses technology to showcase and preserve Shona culture.
The winning team will now represent Gauteng at the national finals, with the chance to compete internationally in Puerto Rico.

Lonehill community raises funds through fun run

More than 800 residents joined the 24th Otter Estates Lonehill Fun Run/Walk in Johannesburg to raise funds for the Lonehill Dam revival project.
The 5km fun run and walk, held on 1 August, was organised by the Lonehill Residents Association with support from local sponsors.
Funds raised will help restore the dam and support environmental projects in the area.
The event brought together runners, walkers and community groups to improve a shared public space.
