SANCB promotes disability awareness at UP

The South African National Council for the Blind joined the University of Pretoria’s Disability Week activation on 1 September to help students understand visual impairment, accessibility and inclusion.
Students explored assistive devices used by blind and partially sighted people and engaged with SANCB representatives about accessibility and inclusion.
The activation also highlighted SANCB’s work in rehabilitation, education, skills development, eye health and access to assistive technology.
The event aimed to show how assistive technology and greater accessibility can help people with visual impairment access opportunities and live more independently.

Home of Hope hosts FASD awareness walk

Home of Hope will host a 4km FASD Awareness Walk in Cape Town on Wednesday to raise awareness of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and promote greater understanding of those living with the condition.
The walk aims to challenge stigma and encourage communities to support children and young adults affected by FASD.
Participants can support the cause by buying a 20-rand awareness sticker, with proceeds helping Home of Hope continue its work.
The public is encouraged to take part or support the campaign by purchasing a sticker.
