Gauteng Department of Education hosts successful Inaugural Sci-Botics competition

The inaugural Gauteng Department of Education's Sci-botics competition has been hailed as a resounding success.
The MEC for Education and Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation in Gauteng, Matome Chiloane, hosted the competition at the SCI-Bono convention center in New Town on Thursday.
The aim of the competition was for learners between grades 1 and 11 to showcase their skills, innovation and team work in Science and robotics.
Chiloane says the competition represents a strategic vision for education in Gauteng.

The province launched a FlySafair route between Cape Town and Hoedspruit yesterday, which is expected to expand general domestic connectivity.

Expanded Public works Programme to generate thousands of jobs

The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Dion George, says his department is committed to generating more than 77-thousand full-time jobs through the Expanded Public Works Programme.
Sixty-percent of the opportunities will go to women, 55-percent to youth, and two-percent to persons with disabilities.
The department’s spokesperson, Thobile Zulu-Molobi, says projects such as Youth Environmental Services, are providing training and career pathways in biodiversity conservation, waste management and renewable energy..
