Cape Town Port recognised for improved global ranking

The Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has congratulated the port of Cape Town on its improvement in the World Bank's world of Port efficiency ranking.
The port gained the most points globally in the 2024 Container Port Index published by the World Bank and the S&P Global market intelligence, moving up from its previous position of 400th place out of 403 ports.
Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, James Vos, says an efficient port could create 20 000 new jobs, add R6 billion in exports and over R1,6 billion in new tax revenue.
