Children’s home receives essential donations from community drive

Baby Moses Children’s Home in Roodepoort and Krugersdorp has received clothing, toys, eyeglasses, books, and home essentials thanks to a donation drive at Kwena Square.
The drive, part of the Redefine #LivingTheUpside campaign, encouraged community members and corporate sponsors to contribute items for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Lanie de Klerk, co-founder of Baby Moses, said the donations will help care for the home’s 201 children and support foster families and other community programs.
Kwena Square marketing manager Unathi Tyali thanked all contributors for making the initiative possible.

At Lenmed eThekwini Hospital and Heart Centre, 21 patients received pro-bono cataract surgeries, restoring their vision and independence.
Among them is 94-year-old Judy Peters, a retired nurse who had struggled with impaired sight for over 30 years.
The initiative, led by ophthalmologists Dr Kavitha Naidu and Dr Bhavna Jugadoe, focuses on patients from indigent backgrounds.
Cataract surgery removes the cloudy natural lens and replaces it with a clear artificial lens, offering immediate improvements in vision.
The hospital emphasised that such interventions help relieve pressure on public hospitals while significantly improving quality of life for elderly patients.
