Record-breaking whale supergroup spotted off South African coast
Story 2
Photographers Chris Fallows and Monique Fallows have documented a record 304 baleen whales in a single group off the Western Cape near Cape Point.
The sighting occurred during feeding season, when the Benguela Current draws krill that attract humpback whales.
Researchers say these supergroups form during intense feeding, and the increase in sightings may point to recovering whale populations and shifting food patterns.
