SA joins the world in marking Hearing Day

Communities and schools across the world marked World Hearing Day yesterday by running hearing screenings and awareness programmes for children.
South Africans joined the global community to raise awareness about deafness and promote access to ear and hearing care.
The Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Community of Practice encouraged parents and teachers to identify early signs of hearing loss and refer children for assessment.
The group says early detection at schools can also assist educators to connected affected learners with healthcare services to support early treatment and classroom inclusion.

6-Year-Old authors and illustrates 2 children's books

Six-year-old Tlotlo Tsheka from Johannesburg has authored and illustrated two children’s books, I Remember When… and Mommy’s Secret.
She created the stories from her everyday experiences, drawing and writing with guidance from her mother, Thatohatsi Tsheka, a Publishing Director.
The GoodThings Guy reports that Tlotlo is preparing for the official launch of her books, supported by a youth entrepreneurship initiative that encourages children in township communities to develop their ideas.
She hopes her books will inspire other children to read and write their own stories.

Bruno Mars has returned to the music scene, releasing his new album The Romantic on Friday, his first solo project since 24K Magic in 2016.
The album’s lead single, “I Just Might,” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and is topping South Africa’s Radio Airplay Charts.
On Spotify, “Risk It All” reached number one in the US with 2.32 million streams in a single day, and all nine tracks from the album charted globally.
