South Africans joined the global community to raise awareness about deafness and promote access to ear and hearing care.
The Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Community of Practice encouraged parents and teachers to identify early signs of hearing loss and refer children for assessment.
The group says early detection at schools can also assist educators to connected affected learners with healthcare services to support early treatment and classroom inclusion.
