Johannesburg Zoo celebrates 122 years

The Johannesburg Zoo is celebrating 122 years of wildlife conservation and education in March 2026.
Visitors born between 1 and 31 March can enter for free, except on 21 March, which is the zoo’s official birthday celebration day.
Everyone else can visit on the 22nd of each month for R22 until 2027 — a big saving compared to the standard entry fees of R132 for adults and R78 for children.
The zoo is home to over 2,000 animals across 320 species.
Visitors can join guided tours, enjoy picnics and take part in educational programmes.

KnitWits warms hearts with blankets for the needy

Volunteers from KnitWits 4 the Needy gathered at Rosebank Union Church in Hurlingham, Johannesburg, to knit and crochet blankets for people in need.
The blankets are distributed to charities, shelters and families across South Africa, helping children, the elderly and vulnerable communities stay warm.
Some of the blankets are also part of large-scale projects that have earned Guinness World Records at historic sites linked to Nelson Mandela.
Volunteers are preparing for a display at the United Nations Day of Creativity and Innovation in April, where the blankets will be showcased to the public.
