Volunteers from 67 Blankets and Cross the Divide have distributed 136 blankets, along with scarves and toiletries, to people living on the streets in Johannesburg.
Recipients were given the opportunity to choose their own blankets during the outreach.
Some of the volunteers who made the blankets also met the people who received them.

Hearts of Hope Provides Child Protection Services

Hearts of Hope in Wendywood, north of Johannesburg, has been providing residential care and protection for orphaned and vulnerable children removed from unsafe or neglectful homes.
The organisation currently cares for 52 children placed through the children’s court system, operating across three properties that function as structured residential units.
Children receive daily support from care workers, house mothers and social workers, as well as access to medical care and an on-site early childhood development centre.
Founded in 1997 as a volunteer initiative, Hearts of Hope is now a registered children’s home within the child protection system and is sustained through government funding, fundraising and community donations.

Hundreds of tertiary students have been given a second chance to continue their studies after a Boksburg-based non-profit settled more than R2 million in outstanding student debt.
The We Solve For X Foundation says the funding has helped students pay registration fees and, in some cases, access qualifications that had been withheld because of unpaid fees.
