H&M South Africa Donates One Million

H&M South Africa has donated R1 million to Star for Life to expand youth empowerment and gender-based violence prevention programmes.
The funding will support Girls Clubs in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape, including a new club at Wesbank Secondary School in Malmesbury.
The partnership will also launch a Boys Club at the school, where learners will take part in sessions on wellbeing, gender equality and violence prevention.
The donation will further support GBV awareness campaigns, survivor support services and leadership programmes led by registered social workers.

Nelson Mandela University hosts hunger walk

More than 200 students and staff at Nelson Mandela University took part in a 5-kilometre walk between the South and North campuses to raise awareness of student hunger.
The Mandela Walk for Student Hunger also collected donations of food, toiletries and other essentials for students in need.
University leaders joined the walk, which supports efforts to address basic needs that affect student learning.
Donations collected will be used to support students through the university’s assistance programme.

South African fans travel to Mexico

18 South African football supporters will travel to Mexico, to cheer on Bafana Bafana at their third FIFA World Cup 2026 group-stage match on 24 June.
The trip is part of the “Mzansi to the World Cup Lucky Fans” competition run by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, with support from private sector sponsors.
Participants enter by submitting a digital pitch explaining why they should represent South Africa at the tournament.
Department spokesperson Zimasa Velaphi says the initiative gives fans a chance to support the national team on the world stage:

David Beckham receives Hollywood Walk Star

David Beckham will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony on June 12 in Los Angeles.
The event will take place hours before the first World Cup match on US soil in this year's tournament, hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Beckham played for clubs including Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain before retiring in 2013.
He is now a co-owner of Inter Miami CF, the Major League Soccer club that signed Lionel Messi.
