Volunteers from 67 Blankets and Cross the Divide have distributed 136 blankets, along with scarves and toiletries, to people living on the streets in Johannesburg.
Recipients were given the opportunity to choose their own blankets during the outreach.
Some of the volunteers who made the blankets also met the people who received them.
The initiative aims to provide practical support to people experiencing homelessness and hardship this winter.

Western Cape Blood Service Hosts Clinics

The Western Cape Blood Service will host donation clinics across the province on 13 June as part of National Blood Donor Month.
The organisation aims to collect 1,000 units of blood to strengthen low winter blood stocks, with O-negative levels currently at a two-day supply.
The clinics will encourage both new and regular donors to give blood, which can be used in emergency cases and patients in need of transfusions.
Donors are advised to be in good health, eat before donating, and can give blood every 56 days.

Disney on Ice returns to Durban

Disney on Ice is bringing all the magic to the Durban ICC from 24 to 26 July 2026 as part of its South African tour.
The live show brings characters such as Mickey Mouse, Elsa, Moana, and Stitch to the ice in a theatrical skating production.
It features themed storytelling drawn from different Disney worlds.
Tickets are on sale, with a local competition also offering audiences a chance to win entry to the show.

South African fans travel to Mexico

18 South African football supporters will travel to Mexico, to cheer on Bafana Bafana at their third FIFA World Cup 2026 group-stage match on 24 June.
The trip is part of the “Mzansi to the World Cup Lucky Fans” competition run by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, with support from private sector sponsors.
Participants enter by submitting a digital pitch explaining why they should represent South Africa at the tournament.
Department spokesperson Zimasa Velaphi says the initiative gives fans a chance to support the national team on the world stage:
