Community volunteer honoured as Hall’s Winter Hero

Community leader Winnie Radebe has been recognised by Hall's as one of its 2026 Winter Heroes for her work supporting vulnerable families.
Through the Winnie Radebe Foundation, she helps provide school shoes for children from underprivileged backgrounds, as well as food hampers and winter blankets for elderly residents. The foundation also supports mothers-to-be with baby clothes and blankets.
Radebe says the recognition is an honour, but believes the real hero is the work being done to uplift the community.

Johannesburg-based artist and environmental activist Natania Botha has received the Go Getters Excellence Global Influencer for Positive Change Award at a ceremony in Sandton.
Botha founder of Mosaic Art by Natania transforms waste materials like bottle tops ceramics and glass into mosaic artworks with more than 65 pieces created.
Inspired by plastic pollution on a Durban beach nearly a decade ago she now uses art to promote environmental awareness and change.
She also mentors aspiring creatives including people with disabilities through workshops focused on skills and empowerment.

More than 50 seniors graduate from skills programme in Phiri, Soweto

More than 50 senior citizens have graduated from a skills development programme run by Community Rise Uthando Help Center in Phiri, Soweto.
The three-month programme, delivered in partnership with the City of Johannesburg, provided training in sewing and detergent-making to help participants develop practical skills and generate income.
Organisers say the initiative promotes active ageing, combats social isolation and helps senior citizens remain engaged in their communities.
