UJ students host ‘Lunch in the Dark’ accessibility event
Story 1
Students at the University of Johannesburg have hosted a unique "Lunch in the Dark" event aimed at raising awareness about accessibility and inclusion.
The initiative invited guests to enjoy a meal while blindfolded, relying on taste, texture and sound instead of sight.
Organisers say the experience was designed to build empathy for people living with visual impairments while giving hospitality students practical training in inclusive service delivery.
Proceeds from the event will help support students who do not qualify for traditional financial aid.
